Size-Up and More is focused on improving the critical first actions of the first-arriving officer. From information gathered prior to arrival to the initial on-scene report, officers must deliver a clear, accurate size-up in a highly time-compressed environment. This course gives students the opportunity to practice size-ups across a variety of structures and emergency scenarios, with focused teaching points for each. Emphasis is placed on quick decision-making, effective communication, and command presence. The class also reinforces the importance of consistent, standardized language across all agency personnel to improve clarity, coordination, and fireground efficiency.
