The Northern Virginia Fire and Rescue Leadership Development Institute (the LDI), was established in 2013 at the direction of the Northern Virginia Fire Chiefs Committee. To address an identified regional gap in leadership development, the Fire Chiefs Committee created a selection of programs designed to enhance the region’s fire and rescue leaders’ understanding of the art and science of leadership, as well as the practical application of management techniques and skills.
Annually, the LDI programs are delivered to company and command-level officers, offering unique training programs critical to succession planning, as well as strategies and tactics. The sessions are open to students from the fifteen-member jurisdictions comprising the Fire Chiefs Committee. Select admission opportunities are also available to students outside of Northern Virginia.
