The 2025 Fall Northern Virginia Command Officer Training presentations will include:
- Think Like an Incident Commander. This presentation will include the following:
- Discussion of the incident commander's thought process when supervising a fire operation.
- Interaction with the attendees through discussion of personal experiences, review of case studies, videos and fire ground radio transmissions.
- Provide tools to help attendees function safely and effectively on the fire ground.
- Highlight the essential tools needed to plan, organize, and manage fire strategies and tactics. (Deputy Chief Thomas Dunne, FDNY [retired]).
- O2X Human Performance considerations specific to firefighter training. This presentation will review the background of the O2X Human Performance program, which addresses the physiological demands of firefighting, shift work and fatigue management, and injury rates and predictors.
