Dr. Rocco Casagrande trained as a biochemist and has spent his career combining deep scientific expertise with novel methodologies to tackle the most daunting threats facing the nation. He has led more than 50 projects to reduce the threat posed by weapons of mass destruction by guiding government investments in medicines, detection systems, and interdiction platforms. He has analyzed avenues for the possible misuse of advanced biotechnology and recommended means to reduce this risk without hampering scientific or industrial progress. Prior to this, Dr. Casagrande served with the United Nations as a weapons inspector in pre-war Iraq.

In this 4 hour keynote presentation Dr. Casagrande will share his expertise on developing and current chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) threats to the National Capital Region (NCR).  The presentation will consist of a brief history of CBRN threats to the NCR, the recent changes and evolution of CBRN threats, and best practices for prevention and first responder emergency response based on evolving threats. 

A working lunch will be provided at the event.
