Incident Review and Lessons Learned from the 2024 Silver Ridge House Explosion

Battalion Chief Christopher Kordek and Battalion Chief Gregory Zalenski (Loudoun County Fire and Rescue [LCFR]) will discuss the February 2024 Silver Ridge House Explosion incident:

Incident Overview – Provide the operational context, significant events, and circumstances surrounding the incident.

Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) Operations – Conduct a deeper review of the RIT operation, which lasted more than thirty (30) minutes.

Recommendations and Lessons Learned – Review the recommendations that resulted from the incident and the rationale behind them.

Organizational Implementation – Most importantly, demonstrate how LCFR is translating those recommendations into actionable changes through training, policy, operational expectations, equipment, and organizational processes.
